As the leader, what standards are you setting?
As a leader, your team looks up to you to set the standard for their behaviour.
Many people in leadership positions are stressed, burnt out, and overwhelmed – leading to more irritable and reactive behaviour.
A leader who isn’t regulated might snap at their team members, take things personally, and engage in petty office gossip and politics.
The result is a team that bickers amongst each other, plays mind games, and works dysfunctionally.
That’s why it’s so important for leaders to hold themselves and their actions to a high standard – to show their team exactly what a regulated, balanced, and grounded leader looks like.
As leaders, we’re visible to everyone around us. Our team, our clients, our competitors, our peers… and it’s up to us to show them exactly what we can do when we come from a place of honesty, integrity, and leadership.
This is the kind of leader that can bring together a divided culture… something I think we could all use a little more of.
